How I Shape My Google Reviews as a Yoga Trainer

Let me tell you about the moment everything changed for my review process. I was teaching a packed Sunday morning flow, and after savasana, a student came up to me holding her phone. She said, “I’ve been meaning to leave you a review for weeks, but I keep forgetting. Can you just send me the link?”

That’s when I realized: asking isn’t enough. You have to make it effortless That’s why I started using Reviewance to collect reviews through a simple mobile QR code—and it completely transformed how I shape my Google presence. Here’s exactly how I do it.

Why I Switched to QR Codes with Reviewance

I used to do the whole “send a follow-up email with a link” routine. It worked, but barely. Students would tell me they’d “do it later,” and later never came. Then I discovered that QR codes are one of the easiest ways to collect reviews because they remove every single barrier.

Here’s what I do now: I created a custom QR code through Reviewance that links directly to my Google review page.  I printed it on small cards, laminated them, and placed them in three key spots:

  1. At the front desk next to the sign-in sheet
  2. On my personal water bottle (students notice it during class)
  3. On a small stand by the mat storage area

But the game-changer? I also have a digital version saved on my phone that I can pull up instantly.

My In-Class QR Code Ritual

I don’t interrupt the flow to talk about reviews. Instead, I’ve built a small ritual at the end of each class—after we’ve come out of savasana, while everyone is still in that open, relaxed state. I sit at the front of the room and say something like this:

“Before you roll up your mat, I want to thank you for showing up today. If something in our practice resonated with you, I’d be so grateful if you could share that experience on Google. It helps other people find a space where they can feel as safe and supported as you did today. There’s a QR code on the front desk—just scan it with your phone, and it’ll take you straight to my review page. It takes about 30 seconds, and it means the world to me.”

Then I pause. I don’t push. I don’t hand out cards individually. I just let it sit there. The first week I did this, I got seven reviews. Seven! That was more than I’d received in the previous three months combined.

The Reviewance Setup That Works for Me

Let me be specific about how I use Reviewance, because the tool itself matters less than how you use it. Here’s my setup:

  • QR Code Placement: I have the physical QR code on a small acrylic stand at the front desk, but I also include it in my automated follow-up email for students who book online.
  • The Reviewance Dashboard: Reviewance lets me track which students have left reviews without being pushy. I can see the overall rating and response rate, which helps me know if my process is working.
  • Mobile-First Experience: Most students scan the QR code on their phone, and Reviewance makes the mobile experience seamless. They’re taken directly to the Google review page with no extra clicks.

What I Learned About Student Behavior

Students are busy. They’re juggling work, family, life—and remembering to write a review just isn’t a priority. But when the QR code is right there, and the process takes 30 seconds, the barrier disappears.  One student told me: “I always wanted to leave you a review, but I could never find the right page. Scanning the code made it so easy that I did it while waiting for my coffee afterwards.” That feedback stuck with me. Ease matters more than enthusiasm.

Do I Ever Worry About Negative Reviews?

Honestly? No. And here’s why: when you make it easy for happy students to leave reviews, the positive ones naturally outweigh the negative.  Plus, I respond to every review—good or bad—with genuine gratitude. That authenticity shows potential students that I care about their experience, not just my star rating.

My Recommendation to Other Yoga Teachers

If you’re struggling to get Google reviews, here’s my advice:

  1. Get a QR code generator (Reviewance works great, but there are others).
  2. Print it everywhere—business cards, front desk, email signatures.
  3. Mention it casually after class, without pressure.
  4. Track what works and adjust your process.

It’s not about begging for stars. It’s about making it so easy that your students feel grateful to help you. And when they do, those reviews become the most powerful marketing tool you’ll ever have.

What’s your experience with QR codes for reviews? I’d genuinely love to hear what’s working for you—drop a comment or send me a message. We’re all learning together.
