The Review Request That Follows a Finished Home Cleaning

by Emily Carter | Oct 3, 2026

Your cleaning team has finished, packed away the equipment and locked up, but the customer is still at work. Sending a Google review request at that moment can ask them to judge a result they have not seen. For a home cleaning business, the useful starting point is the handover between a completed job and a customer who has had time to experience it.

Quick Answer

Send a short, optional Google review request after the home cleaning is complete and the customer has had a reasonable chance to see the result. Identify your business, thank them and include a direct review link. Keep access instructions and household details out of the invitation, and check whether a request has already been sent.

Match the message to the customer’s return home

A job marked complete tells you the team has finished; it does not tell you the customer is ready to comment. If they are away, send the necessary completion update first. A later invitation can acknowledge that they may only just be getting home.

For example, you might send a completion notice after a lunchtime clean and an optional invitation the following day. That is a practical choice, not a proven best-performing interval or a Google rule. Use what you know about the agreed service arrangements without asking customers to report their movements for a review request.

A short text for a completed house clean

This sample suits a customer who has already had a chance to see the work. Replace the placeholders and use the communication channel they normally use with your business.

Hi [First name], thank you for choosing [Business name] for your home cleaning. If you’d like to share your experience, you’re welcome to leave an honest Google review: [review link]. It’s entirely optional. For any questions about the clean, you can reply here.

Google’s review guidance permits invitations using a link or QR code. In a text message, a clickable link saves the customer from having to scan a code displayed on the same phone. Test that it opens the correct business before adding it to your saved replies.

An email when the customer was out during the clean

Keep the subject factual, such as “Following up on your home cleaning.” Avoid a subject announcing a reward or implying that the customer owes you feedback. Here is an example to adapt after the completion notice has already been sent:

Hi [First name], we’re following up after your recent home cleaning with [Business name]. Now that you’ve had some time to see the result, you’re welcome to share your experience in an honest Google review: [review link].

Leaving a review is optional. If you have a question about the service, please reply to this email so our team can help. Thank you for choosing us.

If the customer has not yet returned, do not keep chasing them for an assessment. For a move-out clean, the booking customer may be the person best placed to describe the service even though somebody else later inspects the property. Do not automatically message an incoming tenant or landlord whose contact details were supplied only for access arrangements.

Leave household details in the service record

The invitation only needs enough context to identify the cleaning visit. There is no need to repeat the full address, alarm instructions, key location or the customer’s travel plans. Keep any operational handover in the appropriate private service conversation.

Also avoid attaching before-and-after photographs simply to encourage a review. An image of a cleaned room can include possessions, family photographs or documents. If a customer posts a review, a public thank-you should not reveal where they live or when your team enters their home.

Keep the invitation open to honest feedback

Google’s contribution policies prohibit incentives and selectively asking for positive reviews. Do not offer a free oven clean, a discount or priority booking in exchange for a rating. Avoid requesting five stars, a cleaner’s name or particular phrases in the review.

Use the same neutral invitation for comparable completed bookings, rather than sending the Google link only after a positive satisfaction response. Keep service support available to everyone. A complaint should receive attention without making a public review part of the negotiation.

Check the booking history before pressing send

A weekly clean should not create a weekly request. Before sending either template, check whether the office, cleaner or invoice email already invited the customer. Our guide to asking repeat customers for Google reviews explains how to carry that history across appointments.

If the first invitation goes unanswered, use the same record when considering a review reminder. Keep completion updates useful even when the customer never reviews. A finished clean needs a clear handover; the invitation should remain a small, optional part of it.
